I think his screams are incredibly grating and offensive to the ears and his clean vocals, while being able to hit the right notes, are annoying.

I agree with Thor somewhat, I don't like his screaming voice really at all, but I do however enjoy his clean singing a bit, he actual has talent.

Yea but what would the band be without his clean vocals. It would just be that screaming that everyone seems to hate. At least hes trying to mix it up a bit.

The only real time I like screams is in the chorus to "Pull Harder...". That part, I must admit, is very catchy.

His clean singing is better than his screaming, but that's not saying much. He's still a below average singer.

I enjoy their solos and riffs, but the screaming drags it down IMO. His clean singing is okay, nothing special.

I'm looking forward to their next album. Any idea when it's being released?

I'm guessing they will be like the clean ones on this album, a lot less screaming I've heard.
It's too bad so many people are unimpressed by good musicians. If Matt's voice is the only problem, then I wish the band as a collective group of musicians would get more credit. A lot of people hear Matt and run away.
These guys can play, but that's about it. Matt's voice is just the tip of the iceberg.

man who cares if his clean vocals are "nothing special" i mean whose vocal's are special in the metalcore world definetly not Brian Fair's. Everyone should just recognize talent and give respect when its due and these guys have definetly proven it so far. I think the main reason why people don't like this band is because they are a little overhyped but they deserve. Also if you enjoy Brian Fair's vocals then you should definetly praise matt because Brian just plain sucks d**k as a singer IMO.

Wow, you're right. Bashing the vocalist of a band I like has really made me see things your way.

Fuck, people have opinions. Get over it. There's no need to start acting like a total asshole just because some people here don't like Matt's voice or Trivium in general. Ever since I posted this I've had 10 pages of flaming and idiots getting pissed off because god forbid anyone should have a negative opinion about Trivium. I regret ever writing this, and I'm sorry I had to experience immature Trivium fanboyism first hand. This Message Edited On 04.04.06This Message Edited On 04.07.06

Sorry to hear you feel that way, because this was one of the best reviews I've read on Sputnik. It told me what I want to know from a review: should I buy this album/look into this band, and you told it to me with style. Many props for that.

Unfortunatly, as they are opening for Maiden, I'll probably have to see them (that is if Maiden ever gets around to booking some dates in the US, and if they don't pick up a better opening act.)

I'm sorry too, this is probably one of my best reviews. I tried to be optimistic about their strengths despite my dislike of the music, but people still felt the need to blow everything out of proportion. It's a shame that there are so many who are unable to understand that everyone has different taste.

Trivium's live show revolves around Matt telling the crowd to get violent, so hopefully you're into that sort of thing. It doesn't make sense to match them up with Maiden anyway. This Message Edited On 04.04.06

ok so maybe I was a little out of line and I wasn't trying to bash that singer to try and persuade anyone I was just making a comparison. I'm just going to say that these guys IMO are a breath of fresh air in a very copied genre. These guys will get better (mayber even the vocals) and then maybe people will change their minds. I also agree that everyone has their right to their own opinion and I didn't mean to say anything to think otherwise.
