This is pretty good. Yeah, it's not as good as White Pony, but nothing is.
Minerva is epic

Minerva's the only song I like off this.

Needles & Pins, Minerva, Good Morning Beautiful, Deathblow, WGTB, Battle Axe and Bloody Cape are all Deftones classics in my opinion. Get ya rating up a little higher Dev :-)

Upping this to a 4.5, this is different from White Pony... and just as good.

Growing on me a little, but only a very little. Still their second weakest effort.

Does not deserve a 5..

Deathblow alone is worth the price of admission in my opinion.. but I'm a fanboy, so yeah. Nice work Jas.

I never considered myself a fanboy (I even bought both albums on whims) but I can't get past the beauty of this album. a 4 at the very least.

They combined aspects of Around the Fur and White Pony perfectly on this one, its still my favorite Deftones record.

^^ Diamond Eyes really does that a lot better. S/T is definitely inconsistent (admitted by the band too) mainly because they don't integrate their lush/quiet sections with the heavy shit very well, but there are definite classics here.

I honestly think Diamond Eyes is their most removed record yet from previous works. It almost doesn't sound like Deftones.

Eh, maybe its the overall dark heavy feel that really gets me when it comes to this album, but I just love it. The atmosphere on here is incredible too.
I have to agree on that last statement, Diamond Eyes really does sound like nothing they've ever done before. Its a great album though.

It sounds like White Pony meets Around The Fur, with a little bit of Saturday Night Wrist left over. Sounds like 'tones to me

No way, everyone is playing their instruments completely differently. You wouldn't even recognise the drums are Abe's. Everything is more overtly sexy and optimistic, whereas Deftones have always been a dark, dark band. That's what I mean.

It's still pretty dark and it does sound like Deftones. It's a pretty logical extension from their older records and SNW
