Sherinian's playing on here is fantastic too. I don't think I've ever heard a keyboardist who plays as loud as he does.

Chronologically is how I'd rank their keyboard players.

Rudess is definitely the worst.

ffs, anyone saying Rudess is better than the other two is clearly not paying attention to either Sherinian nor Moore's playing or is just oblivious to Rudess' obnoxious saloon solos because 'oh it's fast!'

The other two are a long way ahead of Rudess tbh.

Rudess overplays to the point of being sonic diarrhea. He obviously has loads of talent as far as technicality is concerned, but his playing isn't very interesting for the most part.

The best example of that is the extended soloing in In the Name of God.

Agreed on Rudess. It still escapes me why some people seem to find him to be such a great keyboardist. Moore's and Sherinian's playing was far more tasteful and actually contributed to the music the entire time.

Rudess does rule on SFAM, and he has some great moments on other songs like the Count of Tuscany.

Very underrated by DT fans. I love his use of organic instrumentation, especially the hammond

Sherinian wipes the floor with Rudess... His performance in Change of Seasons is amazing.

Best performance by Rudess can be found on Six Degrees (especially disc 1). There he restrains himself and contributes to the music and atmosphere without overdoing things.

Rudess' "non-wanky" bits are suffocated in the mix, so we only remember his wankery.

His organ solo in Blind Faith is probably my favourite of his, wish he'd use more vintage instrumentation rather than synths.

yeah basically never let rudess try to emulate a guitar with his synth cause he sucks at it
