I checked this album out since many people were rating it so high. I found it to be quite enjoyable, though not a 'classic'. Hopefully this is a grower (I can only hope, right?)
I listened to 'The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1' at least ten times while I was waiting for the rest of the album to download (is that normal?). I'll probably buy it soon. 'Oh Comely', 'Holland, 1945' and 'Two-Headed Boy' are my favorites from this.

The thing with Oh, Comely is it's length, combined with the fact that it's essentially (until the end) just Jeff and an acoustic guitar, can be very off-putting. I mean, E-C-D-G for about five and a half minutes can obviously be monotonous. It also doesn't help that Jeff's is a voice that you have to become accustomed to.
That said, it was my favorite song off the album for a good period of time, and I still think it's great, particularly the lyrics and the sheer energy it takes to perform the song. I didn't truly appreciate some o' these until I tried performing them. =/This Message Edited On 04.26.07

I've already listened to this album seven times today. Fucking Two-Headed Boy pt.2 ends and I'm like "Alright new album time" but King of Carrot Flowers pt. 1 just starts again and I just can't fucking do it man. I'm at school, too for christ sake.

King of Carrot Flowers Pt.1 is one of my favorites on the album. It's a nice strong opener. It really sets the mood for the album.
I think though THB Pt.2 and Oh Comely are probably the only songs I dont always enjoy on this album.
