The Dylan references are legit. Started listening to this without having read a single review or a word about this band. My first thought was this guy should be paying 75% of his royalties to Dylan.

That said, the album is strong, Kids on the Run and Thousand Ways were my favorites.

what are the vocals on this like? I like Dylan, but generally don't listen because of the vocals. They're also my biggest complaint with The Hold Steady, but there's so much going on musically and lyrically (not that there isn't lyrically with Dylan, but w/e) that it makes up for it. So.... what are they like on this?

also, Hans, have you heard the P.O.S. song with Craig from Hold Steady in it?

The vocals are grating. I think. Prohibits me from liking this more.

They're really fantastic, great melodies, raspy, honest delivery, endearing lyrics

It does sound a lot like Dylan Inveigh. If you can't take his voice I doubt you would enjoy this much.

It sounds very similar to early, pure folk era Dylan. He is a better singer, but only slightly. Can't say Ive heard the POS song Inveigh.

just listen to a song and go from there. it's the only way you'll really know whether to go with this or not, as asking people to describe his voice to you is ultimately pretty pointless in comparison.

Dylans voice on his early records sounds awesome, i don't get why people criticize his voice. On the other hand this guys voice is pretty grating
