Fair play, if you ain't looking for the story-telling component, can see it disappearing into the background.

Have you had a listen to Goths, Ry?

Looked hard for what we’d lost, it was painful to admit it but we couldn’t find a thing.

It was kinda predictable that I’d love this but I can’t believe how much it has grown so quickly. Lyrics brilliant delivery brilliant production (not) brilliant (but therefore brilliant) eeeeeeeeeee

Has a lovelier love song than "Riches and Wonders" been written this century? Certainly up for debate far as I'm concerned!

Also how do we feel about Balance/last 2 tracks as the weak points here, something about em just hasn't stuck to me like the rest has tho none are bad by any stretch

I cannot process anyone thinking Source Decay is a weak point, proper head spinnin

I like a lot of lines in it and the chorus is strong but idk i don't get much from it conceptually(?). Feels like it leaves a lot of important stuff unsaid which is a shame for a guy as eloquent as Darnielle!

Interesting, I kind of think that whole elision in the song works some beautiful thematic terrain, namely that it resembles postcards, the incomplete snapshots of a life that used to be so important to and intertwined with that of the narrator that is torturously dragged on through the performance of communication as it becomes more and more clear that nothing remains (the titular Source Decay)

I think my hang up is a pretty shallow kind of like "sending regular postcards is just too much effort for me to buy the relationship is in the deteriorated state it's supposedly in" lol, like idk the scenario feels contrived to illustrate the theme in some not a dealbreaker but still tangible way
