Artistically, "Monster" is a evolution from the themes and reflection that "Fame" made of the world we live in. The lyrics are darker, though, and you may feel it right in the start with bizarre/fun "Bad Romance", an explosion of synths that carry a collection of hooks to make a unbelievably beautiful, strong, sensitive, intense AND catchy song. It is still pop, but definitely it has something to say.
"Speechless" is a ballad of pure glam rock, with vulnerable and beautiful lyrics, a melodic and wonderful kitchen of sounds and one of the most impressive vocal performances by GaGa. "Alejandro" gains strength and depth with the video, but it's still, by its own, a song with well-created rhythm and groove, latin and dance at the same time. No surprises on "Telephone", not even with Beyoncé taking up some vocals. "Dance in The Dark" and "So Happy I Could Die" compensate, though, with a sound that brings GaGa even closer to dance clubs without losing her point in the whole album.
Afterall, there's a monster inside all of us. ART, pure ART.
