clercqie, name your favourite house music.

Most of my house fits into deep, micro, chicago, some detroit stuff, and of course everything french.
Digging Rodriguez Jr. (from The Youngsters) - Lila so hard right now. This deadmau5 stuff usually
doesn't drift into my tastes, but then again stuff like his Medina remix are supreme.

Well a lot of it is on Devs list: Fake Blood, Deep Dish, Deadmau5, Etienne de Crecy, Basement Jaxx, Boys Noize (though that's more electro), early Armand Van Helden, Fatboy Slim (also a stretch) come to mind first.

I only started listening to electronic music quite recently (from 2007) so a lot of recent material...

And Armand Van Helden hasn't been good since..... ever, though I guess you can make a case for You Don't Know Me.

90's Van Helden is really good you know.

Oh, can't believe I forgot to mention Soulwax! (also more electro)

To be fair, 2007 is a long time ago now haha. Do you dig the slower type listen at home stuff or more
dancey house?

Edit: Yeah and Soulwax/2 Many DJ's are pretty cool.

Depends what mood I'm in of course. I have more of the slower type on my hard drive but I can really dig the faster type too. Same with techno: I don't know any artists or tracks, but I could go see a Jeff Mills or Dave Clarke anytime and enjoy it.

Also some house/techno/trance hybrids, but oh well.

No, they're all just varying styles of house. Except for BT and that's only oen album with only small traces of trance

Faithless is trance (I mean c'mon here) and Villalobos is minimal techno. Trentemoller is more techno also.

I was going to bust out some recs, but don't know where to start in that case. Heard any minimal techno?

Tech and or/minimal house (or microhouse if you're a hipster) and Faithless isn't trance

And when it comes to Villalobos' stuff like Enfants (Chants), doesn't matter what variation of minimal music you call it, so long as you recognise how supreme it is.

Lots: Plastiman being the best, but also Dubfire, Trentemoller, Guy Boratto, Booka Shade... And singular tracks off compilation cd's. It's the faster type techno I know nothing about.

Tech-House, I qualify that under Techno, you under House, that's ok.

And Faithless is defenitely Trance, dude. Just not good Trance (see also Tiesto and stuff)

Yes, he's tech house. And why is Faithless trance?

Ok then, check out the Berlin scene then.

Ben Klock, Paul Kalkbrenner, Ellen Allien, Sascha Funke, Marcel Dettman, Marcel Fengler etc.

Edit: And thats the former, not the latter.

I did say hybrid...

Hmm, hard to explain in English... The melody, lack of beats in the middle of songs (you know for interludes), that voice, the general sound of it. More high-pitched, whereas House has more emphasis on the bass.

Hope it's a bit clear...

How much Faithless have you listened to?

And no, not all House is about emphasis on the bass; in fact only a very small portion of it involves bass
