If I can recall, there seemed to be alot of chug on their debut as well. The chug is good on here.

But the chugging in the first album is hidden amongst memorable riffs.... here it's cover has up and left.

I think the chugga-chugga works pretty well on this album tbh.

Agreed with Crysis, I don't mind chugging but too much boring chugging on this album. Debut slays this.

I agree Crysis and maybe that's the only difference between the two albums. Chugging =/= bad. Only when it's deathcore/ metalcore is when the chugging becomes obnoxiously bad. Chugging, to me, fits well.

Yeah, the chugs on this are great. Just when the band seems to be on the edge of wearing out their welcome with them, they conveniently change directions in a song with another riff or tempo/volume change.

You should include that in your review.

Really think so? I guess I could edit that part in.
Edit: Alright, it's in there.

I liked how you worked that in dude. Noice!

Thanks! Had to alter a few things, but I think it will suffice.
So I've been hearing that In Vain tops this album a lot from this site. However, I've been doing some reading, and it seems the reaction across the net has been about the same as a whole. It's still too early to judge that fact, but I find that pretty interesting. Have you heard In Vain's new one, Wizard?

I have... not sure what to think really. That album will need a long time, at least for me, to digest.

I never got into that much of The Latter Rain, so unless the band sounds noticeably different, I guess I won't check it out. I listened to a couple Myspace songs though, and they seemed pretty good.

If Mantra didn't have "Wayakin" on it it might have been better than The Latter Rain. It's not much different than The Latter Rain for the most part but I felt like there were a lot more solos/intricate leads.

Going to give it a go when I get it in the mail. I heard it crushes balls and babies faces.

Wayakin is wack.
But other than that song it rips. "On the Banks of the Mississippi" is surprisingly epic sounding.

Funny how they titled that song considering they are Norwegian

They seemed to talk about Native Americans a lot on the album, which seems really contrived to me considering they're Norwegian.
But musically it's ace.

Awesoooooooome, ratings probably gonna go up.

I don't usually like death metal at all but this is really good, and listen-able for sure. Listening to the stream right now and it's refreshing; also audible vocals are a big +plus.
