i love the changed line in Hate Everyone on the acoustic bonus cd. "I hate.... My best friend from third grade who tricked me into saying I was gay in front of the whole class because I just thought that it... it meant happy." plus I don't know why they cut the "...last cigarette, last percocet..." part from Cemetary.

bonus tracks? gotta find them.
and yea Do Better and Crush'd are my least favourites, doubt that'll change.
|

Crush'd, understandable... but what's the big problem with Do Better? Is it the poppiness or whatever?

i just find it boring and lacking

Thank you for making me feel sane, Lewis.

some of the lyrics are awesome but some are cringe-worthy, which is one of the main reasons i cant really enjoy this as much
lines like "you're like bjork with better fashion sense" just feel so forced

i love ...is a real boy but this doesn't click with me much either. too refined.

this is still failing to blow me over, but yeah, great album. the bonus tracks and acoustic tracks are cool too. accepted a long time ago that there isn't going to be another iarb.

Love do better. The line about Will & Grace is awesome. Also 'drink alone and watch tv, you're expecting harmonies...'

This is so close to being a 4.5. It has 2 bad songs and one meh songs, normally that would mean a 4 at most, but the other songs are just so fucking good that they seem to make up for the rest.

umm
why the 2s

It almost goes without saying that I love this, though I haven't yet decided on my rating. I was so confused when I first heard this...it took me a few listens to really get where Bemis was coming from this time around. I don't like it as much as IARB or In Defense (I guess mostly because of the sentimental value that record has to me), but I think it's excellent nonetheless. I don't think I've seen anyone say this yet, but Max's voice has improved so much. His range is exponentially better.
Definitely the catchiest SA record to date too, holy crap. Every song is stuck in my head at the same time.

I can't believe that the band who brought us songs like "Admit It!!!" and "That Is Why" has resorted to churning out song after song of fucking inoffensive, uninspired high school poetry shit. Seriously...
I have a total crush on you, baby
And I can't let it go, oh no
I have a total crush on you baby, baby!
If only I could let you know
Really, Max?!
Okay, it has its moments (Hate Everyone, Eloise, Ahhh...Men), but I just don't get why everyone is hailing this as a step forward.

Great review. Wish I could say the same about the album.

because even when max's lyrics stumble the songs themselves are so damn catchy that it's impossible to hate them.
