review wasnt badly written or anything it just seemed like a reaction to hype rather than actually looking at the album as a work also you didnt give specific examples in songs and stuff which made it seem like a rant also 'homo-erotica'

lion in a coma is one of the most annoying songs animal collective has written, my favorites on this are prob summertime clothes or brothersport but my girls is by far the 'best' track, simply because it succeeds at doing what all the other tracks are attempting to do in the best and most catchy way, that is, utilisation of loops, heavy percussion and bass and melodic, catchy vocals. though its not my personal number 1, it is undoubtedly the quintessential Animal Collective track, the perfect execution of the concepts and ideas they have been building their music around for a decade now

lol fine but it pretty much mirrors my thoughts on the review
the review stylistically is well written, but you are well aware that you're writing a DIFFERENT OPINION so you pretty much invalidate everything you say with lines like "it's like they're autistic!" and "don't look now but merriweather post pavilion might just be audible brain damage!" It sounds like a bunch of backlash and frustration
edit: whoa anger jeez

"So I like Guys Eyes because it does a brilliant job of conveying the sexual longing in its lyrics" ok this makes sense
"by pushing the percussion down and forward" this might be a slightly stupid question but i dont really get what 'down and forward' means; is it how it gives the percussion a "shove", i.e. how the percussion pauses and then comse back stronger than ever every measure or whatever?
"offsetting heartbreakingly sincere vocal melodies (an impressive feat of performing here, how frustrated they sound, further stressing the point that Merrieweather is cinematic)." i get this a little more after reading it a few times, that they sound 'frustrated' (i'd say more 'yearning' but that doesnt really matter considering this isnt An Offical Review Of Utmost Importance)
"Following Bluish provokes how tenderly funny it is" does this mean the contrast between the childish romance of bluish and the mature sexuality of Guys Eyes, in which case ok
" like salting one's own unexpectedly deep wounds."
don't really get this
lewis just because i didnt get this doesnt mean i'm Jumping On The Sputnik Bandwagon For Cool Points Haha Guys Look At Me, goddamn

It's hard to tell anymore if people actually feel this way or if it really is backlash when you have a majority of people posting reviews that pertain to the latter.

the example i like to use is silveri's sadly-no-longer-extant 3 star kid a review. it's possible to write a good negative review of an album people love without resorting to cheap shots that just sound angry because the reviewer "doesn't get it." It may still be 'wrong,' but it's still worth reading to get a different perspective. This review is not.

okay thank you now i get it more
i definitely agree with the bluish guys eyes contrast and i actually have considered that aspect of it before
i dont really see that infidelity/guilt thing but i can get where youre going with that
i mean i dont like guys eyes simply because it's a little claustrophobic for me (intentionally, of course) and it's this kind of formula that i dont like, stretched out. if you like the type of thing they're going for (a kind of mix or "boil" of a bunch of vocal harmonies/motifs) then obviously youd like it but i dont really dig it
however the 'i-i-i keep it light!' (if thats what he's saying) is awesome
whatever
edit: awesome as a lead-in to Taste (which is completely amazing) though

And what? Mein Kampf was terribly written. Hitler was a terrible human, a terrible writer but a great orator.
