This could've been an excellent album to me if it weren't for the emphasis on too much instrumental songs added.

But the instrumentals are excellent. Fantastic musicians.

This album is pretty good. I like the southern vibe throughout the album, reminds me of the great outdoors, and roaming free but having to fight for your life.

Enjoying this more and more with each and every new listen. Definitely a 'musicians' album, just layered thick with riffs and ambient drones that echo from left to right, grooving bass locked in tight, call and response vocalising, drum fills that drive and crash, zig and zag. The Blue Record commands your attention and seems to have this segueway/ continuity that makes the whole a work of art, modern day AOR, fresh and focused. Really looking forward to hearing the direction of their next album. How can you top this? Maybe in the vocal department, but everything else is firing on all cylinders. A band at the top of their game.

i dunno - sounds like a talented band progressively going backwards...nothing remotely tops their first 2 EPs

This is great. It's not as good as red (duh) but really doesn't deserve much hate at all.

I've never found much enjoyment through Mastadon's music.

I'm wondering what color they will do next?

i love Mastodon but this more. but i also hate comparisons, theyre a lot different, like a LOT

it's like comparing Radiohead to Weezer or something, sure they're both alt-rock but so different

K stupid statement but you get the point

also: the riffs in this thing slay
