I have this and III, and this is better, but both are pretty great.

this 3.9 average is absurd. this album rules the world.

I mean, its better than average for the type of music theyre playing. This niche of melodeath inspired metalcore is usually pretty shitty and inherently flawed because of boring, repetitive, and poorly placed breakdowns. So id say a 3.9 is pretty damn generous.

why should the fact that other bands in their niche are boring, repetitive and shitty have any bearing on the rating for this album?? poor argument. there is nothing boring or repetitive about any of their albums. also, their use of breakdowns is quite tasteful and they simply write better ones than most shitty metalcore bands.

Actually, his argument is pretty damn good. The average for bands like Unearth is inherently low, so in this genre of music a 3.9 is damn near perfect, so shut the fuck up and get the stick out of your ass, homie.

what you said is not what he said. that is a better argument. is it really necessary to tell me to shut the fuck up and get the stick out of my ass? is this seriously how people talk to their fellow humans nowadays??

"why should the fact that other bands in their niche are boring, repetitive and shitty have any bearing on the rating"

Thats not what im saying. Im saying theyre playing a style of music that is inherently flawed.

And no, their use of breakdowns is not tasteful, they abuse them and play boring one note breakdowns like every other core band.

That being said, they are better than most bands playing in this style. Unearth were one of my favorite bands back in the day, and i still like them.

@ponton it riffs pretty hard, but the breakdowns are probably the most boring that theyve ever been and really bring down the quality of the music a lot.

i love eyes of fire, but the production always seemed weird to me. the snare and guitar tone aren't the best. think my top two are oncoming storm and watchers of rule. darkness in the light is a sleeper too.
