I was there when OB4CL created a wave back then, right in the underground clubs. Actualy no one knew what Wu-Tang was about to accomplish. History tells the rest. After the disapointing 8 Diagrams, GZA did good with Pro Tools and Rae shines on Part II. Not that much into rap anymore but this surely reminds me of good times passed.

Ridiculously good, definitely in my top 2 hip-hop records so far this year (still waiting on my copies of Sol. Illaquists, Sole and Mr. Lif though, so we'll see...)

Um, I got a conspiracy theory about this record..
Listen to Have Mercy on this disc, and then right after listen to Say Hey by Atmosphere. They're the exact same beat, piano sample, drum loops, bass line -- even the vocal sample in the chorus is the exact same (execpt they use a longer version of it on Raekwon's).
Don't believe me? Listen again. Atmosphere's song came out over 4 years ago. To top it off, check this out:
10 Bricks (of OB4CL2) starts with the line, "rappers steppin' to me, they want a brick son."
In 1998, Atmosphere released a song off Lucy Ford called Guns and Cigarettes. The first line in that song is, "rappers steppin' to me, they wanna get some."
Coincidence? I'm not hating on this album, I think it's one of the best (if not the best) rap/hip-hop disc of the year. I'm just wondering if that was intentional, and if it was -- what the fuck is Raekwon doing listening to Atmosphere?

^haha. But seriously though, did you listen to those tracks? Tell me they're not the EXACT same. And then that next line from 10 Bricks being almost identical to Guns and Cigarettes. I'm not knockin 'Kwon, I'm just surprised and even slightly impressed..

Someone needs to care! Maybe it was some sort of way of giving props to Atmosphere, but I just find that hard to believe...
Well, to be fair, the "rappers steppin' to me" part would probably be an homage to Big Daddy Kane. But, the fact that Raekwon just rapped over an Ant beat and then started the next song with that line (which Slug used to pay homage to Kane first) is too much to be a coincidence to me.
