the primary difference between DBM1 and DBM2: its really hard to sing along to some of the parts on DBM1 whereas DBM2 is a lot easier to imitate.. i always think that im such a good singer when im singing along to DBM2 songs.. then i put on DBM1 and theres parts that come up where i get owned and im back to feeling shame

that's because he'd show up to the studio while drunk and high when they recorded this. he didn't bother holding himself back whatsoever, and on dbmII he admitted to toning himself down a bit as to not overshadow the band

actually foxblood.. jonny was drunk and high on whatever pills he pops during the recording of DBMII as well. i know its not an excuse for him to hold back on his singing because he was (especially) drunk/high for the recordings of Whatever I Say is Royal Ocean and DBMI. I just think that he's lost a bit of power over the years.. also hasn't grown as a songwriter

yeah he's always been fucked up during recording sessions, its always been that way. I think it was the worst during this and WISIRO though. and yeah he hasn't really grown, i'd say he has digressed as a singer. i doubt he'll ever do anything as good as this
