The big ship.

Golden Hours is one of the greatest jams in human history
|
| |
The hardest 5 to ever be 5'd
|
| |
Everyone talks about Golden Hours and The Big Ship and while those are among the best songs here, Everything Merges With the Night is a really underrated song that hits all the right spots for me.
|
| |
Also a fantastic song. Everything is 6/5 here, best album ever put to tape
|
| |
Glad you agree that Golden Hours is THE number 1 on this album (assuming you ranked your list).
|
| |
Golden Hours is my favorite probably but I don't think I can do a definitive ranking for the other ones I like because they're all equally good. That being said if I absolutely had to do a top 3 it'd probably be Golden Hours, Becalmed and Everything Merges With the Night.

One of the best albums ever. Agreed with Plane's list but I might replace Sky Saw with St. Elmo's Fire or Zawinul/Lava. Sombre Reptiles and Little Fishes are also underrated.

| |
It warms my heart to see all these 5s and 4.5s.
|
| |
It certainly deserves them. It's always been one of my favorite Eno albums.

I love I'll Come Running

The movie "End of the Tour" ends with Jason Segal (David Foster Wallace) dancing in a church by himself to The Big Ship. It's profound. That's how I stumbled on this album.

Good movie. I should read some DFW, I actually just bought his Oblivion book over the weekend because Toby Driver had mentioned in an interview that he's a fan of his short stories and that seemed like a good place to start.
I knew I was missing something, yea I'll Come Running is a highlight too. Whole album is perfection.

movie got me to check out infinite jest, it actually kind of reads like a (long) series of short stories

Infinite Jest seems pretty intimidating and a big commitment, but I've wanted to read it for a while and I've never been one to shy away from ambitious books/movies/etc. so I'll get to it at some point. I know it's considered the best novel of the past few decades or something so I don't want to miss out.
|
| |
it was the biggest commitment i've ever made to a novel and no regrets. took me a year and a half of off-on reading. it's worth. changed my perspective on many things, namely drugs and entertainment
