I tried to do both :[
You did! I was speaking in general. This review was difficult to write. I kept wanting to listen to other albums or only listen to the "Divinations" chorus. It's just an album that would be so much better if it dropped some of its bombast. Like I'd have this hovering around 3.5 if they stripped all of the fake Eastern European sounding melodies from any of their guitar parts and never slowed done, ever.

I'm coming to find that people talk about the review when they don't have any intelligent to say about the music itself.

Because Colors never once aspires to be art music or detached from the genres its lampooning. It is just straight up fun and keeps a really good balance of cheesiness and ingenuity. Think of it this way.
Two technical metal bands over time start including more non-metal influences into their music. Mastodon now sounds more like Dream Theater and BTBAM sounds more like Queen. I think that pretty much solves the conundrum about how they could be doing similar things on paper yet have such different scores when I review them.

Please make a pros and cons list for SA so I can understand why you actually like them. For me the first thing on both the pros and cons sections is "Sounds like Gatsby's American Dream."

Like I already said, but my comment got deleted. This review sucks. Definitely deserves more than a '2'. God I hate the internet...

Yeah, it's not bad so far. Can't say a 2, but I'm not looking at any higher than 3.5 so far.

Loving the album, not sure if it's their best work but it's fun all the same.
Will prob be a 4 for me in a few days, it's growing on me with every listen. The last baron rules

i wouldn't consider this "fun" music. that aren't their intentions either from what i can gather from interviews but i could be wrong. if i strip away any expectations of what this should be i find it a pretty enjoyable album, their most melodic album so far.

... "ludicrously boring verses", "overly muscled bodybuilder", "ultimately sort of a joke", "tedious and sloppy", "absurd concept", "nimble riffs"... very strong words to describe one of the most original metal bands out there today.
I disagree with this review. I like Crack the Skye. But I can understand that some people might have had too many expectations, and that inevitably leads to disappointment.

too many expectations?
my expectation was for something that kicked ass. this doesn't. those vocals are wretched.
and most original metal bands out there today? i'd strongly, strongly disagree.
