Fair enough criticism, vocals definitely are on the stranger side

enslaved fucking rule and always have
everyone check out the hordanes land ep

I feel that way about Don’t Break the Oath’s vox, they amused me which detracted from the feel of that album. I should maybe try again sometime.

see i can actually understand that. that said, mercyful fate def. has more of an old school heavy metal feel to it so i think the high register vocals are more appropriate there

Album Rating: 3.5
Yeah but it seems less acceptable for some reason, it’s like I expect it with old school heavy metal... maybe I just had the wrong expectations.

hvis > this >>>>>>> filosofem
vocals are like the least important part of the music

Album Rating: 4.0
see im with you most of the time but hvis vocals are literally some of the worst i have ever heard in an album that is otherwise not bad, in my entire life
they are just hilariously poor and distracting in a way that physically stops me from enjoying everything else that's going on at the same time.

songwriting-wise this here album destroys everyone else except maybe ulver

Album Rating: 5.0
I would this say this is perhaps the most complete bm album in vision and scope (except hvis, hehe).
I would also say that it's wayyyy better than Ulver.

The atmosphere on this album honestly is something else

Atmosphere is awesome yeah. As a newbie to BM not really sure why this is only a 4.

Album Rating: 3.5
Close to Nightside Eclipse or Storm of the Light’s Bane & superior to old school stuff like To Mega Therion & Blood Fire Death.

"Enslaved always were the best band in the 2nd wave scene tbh"
"Atmosphere is awesome yeah. As a newbie to BM not really sure why this is only a 4."
yeah dawgs
lifandi liv undir hamri is like the only bm from this period that legit felt kinda spooky to me
still gives me chills to this day

The vocals are fine on Hvis, the cheap synth is a lot funnier.
It all ends up working somehow though
|
| |
Also, totally disagree with demon about this being better than BFD
