The Root, These Walls and Panic Attack are awesome. Rest is pretty meh. Even the title track has tons of shit material in it. Not one of their better records but its still solid. Good review. Pos!

Has anyone else noticed this? Here is the key each song is in:
The Root of All Evil - F minor
The Answer Lies Within - G minor
These Walls - A minor
I Walk Beside You - B minor
Panic Attack - C minor
Never Enough - D minor
Sacrificed Sons - E minor
Octavarium - F minor
A complete scale! Fits well with the whole "octave" and "everything ends where it began" theme, I think.
WHAT THE FUCK? I never noticed that. Thats fucking cool.

dude the whole album is littered with those things
everything revolves around 5 and 8 too
Octavarium is the 8th studio album
5 natural + 3 flats = 8 keys
if you open the entire booklet there are 8 pendlums, and 5 birds
5 current members of dream theater
8 members in bands history
band formed in 1985
5 live albums at release of octavarium
every piece of every single song off of the album revolves around the numbers 5 and 8.

my turn:
Octavarium
Sacrificed Sons
The Root of all Evil
Never Enough
I Walk Beside You
These Walls
The Answer Lies Within
Panic Attack
but from my listening standpoint i favor panic answer
remember, i love all the songs like you wouldnt believe. so when i say panic attack is the worst, i still freaking love it to death.

I'll jump on the bandwagon here:
Octavarium (of course)
Panic Attack
The Root of All Evil
I Walk Beside You
These Walls
The Answer Lies Within
Sacrificed Sons
Never Enough
But like Sonicspeed500 said, they're all great.

For me:
Octavarium (probably the best song i've ever heard)
Panic Attack
These Walls
Never Enough
Sacrificed Sons
I walk Beside You
The Answer Lies Within
The Root of All Evil
Somehow 'The Root of All Evil' always seems a bit boring and repetitive to me, but that's just taste :P

Yea I wasn't too impressed with this cd. It was kind of a drag for Dream Theater standards.

One of the few albums of DT that aren't simply wankering...and probably the last.

The title track makes me think higher of this album than I probably should.

I'm not as big a Dream Theater fanboy as I was 4-5 years ago but I still go back and give the title track from this a spin every once in a while. Still think it's one of, if not the greatest song i've ever heard. Song makes me feel feelings that I can't describe. Coming from a band not exactly known for palpable emotions, that's saying something.
Also merry christmas sputfuckers.
