I really dislike the Bush Bashing you constantly see in the live shows and you hear in the album. Political songs can be tolerated to a point. I know America seems to be based on doing counteracting an action you don't like.....but what's the use in crying? He's got 2 more years or so.....DEAL WITH IT!!!! Or at least make a decent point we haven't heard a thousand times......I don't care if rock musicians (minus Ted Nuget) hate Republicans and conservatives.........there's nothing new there. I want originality......don't go cliche!

Could anyone who's calling this album emo please go and actually listen to bands like Hot Cross, Saetia and Circle Takes The Square. Green Day aren't emo. They aren't even anything close to emo, and it's frankly really boring to have to read arguments involving people who say that they are.

And for the love of god people, Green Day is not emo. There's no emo at all inside them. They are punks who want to go out and make a difference. Not once to they talk of wanting to kill themselves, wrist slitting, or some other shit. And Sharpened Spoon, you have no right to call 1039 a wrist slitter when it's perfectly clear hes not. And to let you know, every person who listens to a style of music is a stereptype of a negative sort. You like punk? Go die your hair green for no apparent reason. You like Hip Hop? You must where dresses disguised as basketball jerseys and walk very slow. You like metal? Do us all a favor and stop playing it because it's killing our ears.



Point being stereotypes exist in every music, so if you have something bad to say about emo (Which granted I hate, but I hate jackasses who insult others due to stereotypes even more) I know thirty things that could be said about yer style of music that would piss you off.

this album makes me sick to my stomache... green day was a brilliant punk band who fought the regular music monster...now they work for it...and that made no damn sense... simply put they jsuta rent waht ther were... such standard music now tih no really shine or good playing. i feel bad for mike and tre where the real talent is. hope they shape up for thier next album! or theyl end up lik everyone else

Not good at all. How many times can you write these simple, catchy songs and call them hits? There is absolutely no growth, album to album..

At first, I thought this album sucked, I bought it originally as a gift, but I wanted to open it so I did, I found that right away, I liked American Idiot, because I knew the song from the radio, and Holiday.

Then they started to get noticed...Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Holiday, Wake Me Up When September Ends...
All great songs...just overplayed...it sucks when they become singles.

Jesus of Suburbia is currently and will always be my favorite song on that CD, I hate how they made it a single though and took out like 1/3 of the bloody song...

I like little bits and pieces of American Idiot, I wouldn't give it a perfect 5, maybe about 4.0/5, just because some of the songs get annoying as hell

i agree with musicOfficial101..this cd isnt as political as people are making it seem..yea holiday is political..

the rest tells a story. and american idiot is pointing out peoples ignorance which is obviously what most people are guilty of..



you really just have to listen to the album in its entirety..and i mean like the actual cd..IN ORDER..not some downloaded version in which the tracks may be all jumbled up..

billie joe, mike dirnt, and tre cool are awesome people who have created something that will be talked about for..a LONG time.. this album stirred up much controversy..which can be good and bad..they have all this air time..people that like them and hate them are talking about it..so are they just people who have conformed to the mold or are they doing what they believe..everyone is entitled to their own opinion (as we see in this forum)



what i dont understand is why so many people get angry when a band goes mainstream..ive been listening to greenday for while and even though theyve been growing in popularity i still like them...why cant people just be happy for a band that they supposedly like as they are reaching higher levels of audiences.

If you must give a bad review then let it be cause the music was bad. I happened to love the album and reckon its the peak of their music.

Sorry but it has become very clear that many people dont like this album just because it has gained a public following. This was very prevalent in the review by superpeer where he sneers at the preteen following. Do you think they were aiming at the preteen audience with their politics? I wouldn't have thought so. The public has just realised that the album is good. Wake up to yourselves and realise this too and quit trying to be different.

adn with the sudden boom in politcal music...have you people even looked at the world we live in...politics are our lives.. the politcal news is really big right now. what with wars rebuilding of countries and what not...



oh and i thought that music was about expressing how people feel about certain issues. whether its an ex-girlfriend, certain political leaders, or just anger cuz you cant find your bag of drugs..
