Hm... I wouldn't call Harvest incredible, probably the weakest track on here. Opeth's acoustic work is good in short doses, but a whole six plus minute track with nothing but acoustics? That seems like a bit much. It doesn't detract from the overall quality of the album though, this is still freaking amazing. One of my favorite albums of all time, I think.

You can never have too many acoustics on a METAL album. It spices it all up.

I might finally be getting this cause, although its always been a top priority buy for me ever since I got into Opeth, Ive usually found their other albums going cheaper. Which will leave just Morningrise, Damnation and Ghost Reveries for me to get.

My favorite band ever. Title track is really really growing on me. I think it's the only Opeth song with no clean vocals.

Title Track is a personal fave of mine. Evil music, Evil Vox and Evil lyrics:

"Lepers coiled ‘neath the trees

Dying men in bewildered soliloquys

Perversions bloom round the bend

Seekers, lost in their quest

Ghost of friends frolic under the waning moon

It is the year of death

Wielding his instruments

Stealth sovereign reaper

Touching us with ease"

You should give a rating at the end of each song (just some advise) otherwise, this was probably the best reveiw I've read, on one of the best bands I've heard, and I'm gonna go buy this album as soon as I can.

Yeah, pretty much. The weakest song on here might deserve a 4.75/5

I just saw this band on tour with lamb of god and was blown away. If this album is as good as everyone says it is, i have got to pick this up.

If you heard a song called "The Leper Affinity", that was from this album. This is one of the best albums ever, really.

Shattered, if this is one of the best albums ever, then why no 5?

This is the best heavy metal album ever (along with Hypocrisy's s/t IMO).

I gotta say, I usually hate death metal, but I've listened to this a couple times, and it's really damn good. Songs like Harvest stunned me with how beautiful they are and I love the guitar work.

Thor, it doesn't get a 5 because there's a few missteps here and there. The Funeral Portrait is a bit weak, and (I'm well aware I'm alone in this), the title track drags on quite a bit in places. However, I think this does deserve the title of one of the best albums ever, and you can have that without giving it a perfect score.
