greg is a douche yeah, hes a good singer but DEP would've been better off without him

they would've made great music either way but it could've been better without greg. he kinda poppified them

I admire Greg because he's one of the people who are famous enough to be scared of opening their mouths but yet publicly slams 10 bands a day

Greg doesn't write ANY of the music, it's all Ben.

i know, but if they had stuck to a good punk vocalist instead of getting some queef who can actually sing they wouldn't have started shoehorning hooks into some of their songs

i just think that they might've stuck with their more experimental style longer if Greg hadn't of come into the equation. everything they've done since Miss Machine has been a huge step down in quality from Calculating Infinity and this EP.

I still like DEP, don't get me wrong. option paralysis was great. but it hardly even feels like the same band anymore. i'm all for a band branching out and experimenting, but all they've really done was add some catchy hooks and watered down their old sound. it would probably be really boring if it wasn't for Ben being such a fantastic musician.

i guess i just wish they were still doing the harder, grindier and more technical stuff of CI.

the fact that it's insanely fast doesn't mean the music is good though

(I like DEP mind me)

They are not sloppy at all. Not at all. But they're watering down things lately for sure.

DEP is still great, and yeah sure they've expanded their sound but it feels like a lot of that was just for accesibility more than anything

fast doesn't mean good, but I dare you play this fast

this is not just skill, this is also a phisical challenge

"i guess i just wish they were still doing the harder, grindier and more technical stuff of CI."

They would've likely fallen into the "sounds the same and old"/"stagnant" territory at some point or
another

CI itself had many songs that sounded samey, trying to keep it up for as long as they have lasted in
their career would've likely not benefited them at all in the long run.

DEP are all about branching out, it's one of their charms.

'fast doesn't mean good, but I dare you play this fast'

I am not Blake Richardson or Flo Mounier so no thanks I want to keep my limbs intact.
