This album suffers from a very similar phenomena as the last 4 tracks on a moon shaped poo

Good songs that ruin each other in the context of being far too similar to be enjoyed together sequentially

I like Prayer for England alot. Mainly the bassline. I hate to say it cause the message is good but it lyrically feels out of place. Vocally it's awesome

Like I'm all for political lyrics and using your musical platform to get things out there but it feels contrived for that particular song

Which is interesting because they've always been such an openly political group. Openly? Bordering on activism.

Do you know what about that song makes it feel contrived?

They have at least a couple songs per album that have basic, uncreative, contrived lyrics. Except for Mezzanine, which is of course perfect in every way.

it feels more shoehorned than the other Sinead features on there, like she just happened to have the words and did her damnedest to fit them in with some vague semblance of a melody

vs Soul & Special Cases which are just beautiful
