Carbonized and Convulse are good. I've already heard Infester and Molested when I was going through rasputin's list, and didn't care for them.

I've caught up on a lot of metal I missed. I've heard excellent recommendations from all of you, and I thank you. witchxrapist, rasputin, KILL, Crysis, sonictheplumber, DeafMetal, AngelofDeath, DethTrasher, and yeah even you ShadowRemains. I thank you, I honestly do.

However, this album still destroys all would-be competitors. Bolt Thrower is the only band to me to come close to this level. To me, this is death metal's finest moment. This is where you guys and I just disagree. If I were to rip my heart out and hand it to you, it would look like the cover of this album. The relentless punching of Steve Asheim on drums, the twin blade attacks of the Hoffman brothers, and the lion, Glen Benton, roaring his awesome message like some Balrog epitomize brutality and viciousness to me.

"Incantation - Onward To Golgotha: too monotonous, guitar is way too low in the mix."

No. HELL no. 'Onward to Golgotha' is THE death metal album. That being said, I thought it was too monotonous as well, the first time I heard it. Went a few months without hearing it again, then did one day, and suddenly everything was clear. Give it some time if you have to, listen to other stuff, but go back to it eventually. There is no album more death metal than that.

On another note, see if you like Prosanctus Inferi's new EP: http://slaysfordays.blogspot.com/

This album must hurt your head, too, Shadow, with that big 3.5.

Put on some Eminem, Pink Floyd, or Third Eye Blind, man. It will help ease the pain.

This is a death metal masterpiece. End of story. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Sorry, Tommy, Psycroptic singer still isn't doing it for me. His range is good, he's got skill, but the little frog belches he does irritates the shit out of me. I also can't stand Suffocation, or Cannibal Corpse's Tomb of the Mutilated album. I guess we all have our preferences in vocals.

Since two people have sworn by Onward to Golgotha and I've seen it has good reviews other places, I've been listening to it more. I do like the singer in it. The original recording(with full dynamics; not the remaster) sounds better, but the production is still poor to me. I'm having a hard time with finding anything memorable about it, every song just kind of flows together in one heavy doom-like wall of sound. It's not a bad album on second listen, maybe it grows on me more.

Pretty sure it was never remastered.
