There's a difference between the wall of sound effect and what you are inferring. A wall of sound recognises the layering of instruments, as well as the psychological and physical rendition of the performance, whether it be live or studio. Pure INTENSITY and the WoS are not the same thing.

First of all, who abbreviates 'wall of sound'? seriously dude?

taylor you need to get your snobby, pretentious face out of your ass, because you're coming off as a gigantic douche bag.

So is this album the definition of being 'the ultimate tough guy'?

This is an exceptional release from Converge, possibly the definitive metalcore album. Although vocals sometimes lack the "oomph " the music itself deserves it is a thoroughly enjoyable album from the terrific opener "Concubine" to the epic closer that is the title track. This Message Edited On 07.13.08

sometimes comments are best left unsaid and/or edited to not make yourself look stupid. (ahem)

I was aiming to make myself look stupid, there are so many jerks on this website I thought I'd be one for a day or so ...see what kind of entertainment can be brought from it. Very little it turns out.

I'll edit that last comment if you really think I should ;)

Edited, is it better now? This Message Edited On 07.13.08

I was implying to a joke, mainly jokes surrounding this band that if you don't like them, your a pussy hahaha.

The vocals are still a huge drawback for me.

The vocals are what makes this band so good.

So I just listened to this after not doing so for several months. I can see its rating getting bumped up very soon.

Best part of the album: The whole thing.

It's ridiculous how with a 4.3 rating, it's still not top 5 of 2001.

Tweaked this review again, probably version 8.1 by now, yet I'm still not satisfied.

I can't get enough of the bass playing. Absolutely monolithic.
