pretty much completely disagree. there is definitely a feeling of continuity on the album, a very strong one at that.

Well, the album pretty much departs from Metal with 'Enigma', the vocals sound (even if only barely) different on every track and each song has a pretty different structure, etc. It's not a problem, I'd just prefer to have something present on every track like the guitar harmonies on a Maiden album or something.

I've said it before, there's not much flow at all

I dunno, man. It's hard to for me to buy this when it sounds like you listened to it only a couple of times. Best music is that which gets better over time.

I can tell you, my favorite albums were not my favorite albums so soon.

I'm listening to it now. It seems to me like an inverted Swallow the Sun -- that is, it has softer sounds, and where as I love Hope for having largely brutal but powerfully selected clean parts, this album is largely clean with select parts of overt energy.

As of now I can say I prefer Hope's approach.

i would agree that albums that take time to grow tend to entertain me for longer periods of time. you never get sick of albums that you hated at first, then grew to love.

that said, i loved this from the start, even more than elegy, which is awesome

That is exactly why Jane Doe never gets old for me. Ever.

However, now it's a very mood specific album.

I wrote this review over a year ago, I've probably listened to this album upwards of 50 times since, and I completely agree with my opinion when I wrote this. This is one of those few albums which clicked instantly with me and never changed.
