Aymar is very mixed. What If has excellent vocals where as Expect The Unexpected sounds like a retarded bird.

I actually think the biggest issue here is that almost every song sounds out of order. I'm really OCD about how tracks flow from one to another. Other than the opener and closer, listening to this sounds like I'm on shuffle.

I can see that being an issue for this album. I always thought Cut Down should be track 2 but instead its track 7, like the intro to that song sounds exactly like something that would go after the opener.

That riff about 52 seconds into "What If" is sooooo sick

This album is amazing. If you don't like it then that's cool with me. I have nothing bad to say about this album other then it sucks after the last song.

These lyrics seem to be a logical progression from the themes they were exploring in Symbolic and The Sound of
Perseverance, When Man and Machine Collide sounds like it might've been a concept album sort of like Meshuggah's
Destroy Erase Improve

I wish we could hear that album completed, but Chuck's family doesn't want it released or something

Is that true? I thought it was an issue with the record company and who owns the recordings, the guitarist has been updating the FB page about it and says there's small amounts of progress being made since 2012 and 2013

I don't think it's the Schuldiner family holding back the new album. They claim to have found nearly 4 hours of unused riffage and song material from the TSOP/FAOE era by Chuck but don't know what to do with it. Chucks parents were probably his biggest supporters and it must be terrible to lose both children before they reached 35.
Also you can find some unreleased Chuck demos on YouTube and on the Death official website. Four of them are like 8 minute long tracks that are pretty awesome.

I remember this being pretty cool

Is this at all reminiscent of Death?
|
| |
its like proggy Death death metal without the death, but still some metal, and still some Death.
So yeah id say so. Progressive Death metal. but not death, school

this is pretty reminiscent of sound of perseverance, just with a very different vocalist with a very different style and a bit more old school prog metal stuff going on
seriously once you hear any song off this in full you'll be like "yup that's chuck alright"

I wish Tim Aymar did vox on The Sound of Perseverance
Diggin the production in that demo in a weird way though, also his vocals there are at least better than his clean vocals to those TSoP songs
