The Incident is better than anything during Pink Floyd worship-era PT.

If i want to listen to Pink Floyd, i'll listen to Pink Floyd. There are worthwhile songs on all of those earlier albums (well, i haven't actually heard On The Sunday of Life so that one i can't speak for), but as albums they just aren't as good as everything they've released after Signify. The Incident, while not a very cohesive album, i prefer stylistically and - simply put - the high points on that album are much higher than the high points on PT's earlier albums. Granted, there's more filler on that album than any of PT's other post-Signify albums, but still.

The Incident is their second worst imo (after On the Sunday of Life).

It just feels like a watered-down version of FOABP to me.

I agree that FOABP is definitely superior to The Incident, but here's the thing: I'll only listen to FOABP if i'm in the right mood. When i am, it's a perfect album. The Incident isn't like that, i can listen to that album when i'm in a number of different moods.

I wouldn't call it "bad", but really, only Arriving Somewhere But Not Here and Shallow grabbed my attention.

I am slowly realizing this is their only worthwhile release.

it sounds exactly like this. except, as opposed to this, deadwing doesn't drag slightly.

Uh, Deadwing definitely drags. The songwriting here is superb.

the 2nd half of this is definitely weaker than the 1st half. that's not saying a lot, though, since the 1st half of this is pretty much perfect.

deadwing, on the other hand, is amazing throughout. i can't think of one track on there that i can say i have any real issues with. the weakest song on deadwing, if i had to pick one, would probably be glass arm shattering - which is still pretty fucking good.

Lazarus was the only one that did anything for me on Deadwing.

I think PT could put out a brilliant compilation disc but not one of their albums is a stand-alone classic for me - they all drag and all have a lot of filler.

"Trains" is the best song by a mile, and the rest just can't stand up to it at all.
