as for why, it feels like massive attack (go figure) but a bit darker, sultrier (esp abbaon fat tracks lol), sadder (suffocated love) and yea just "raw"er for lack of a better word. black steel is fun and funny.

Hmm yeah, I've always felt it is much less interesting than Massive, plus the beats are a little less appealing to me. Everything is a bit too muddy and murky, I prefer more soul influences (early Massive) or more jazz/noir (Portishead). Zak was also spot on with the 'too much marijuana for its own good'.

Of course it's only preferences probably.
