This is not as bad as he makes it out to be.

The most original? Nope. Terrible? Nope.

I'm not exactly an old timer (only finding the joys of these genres in the last year or so) when it comes down to metal or any of these genres in fact that are similar. However, I must say I am really shocked at people rating any of gojira's material any less than 3.5. Its just pure genius to me; I cannot fault it.

page one:

"From the listen I had from them, I didn't think they were TERRIBLE. Sure, they rip off Meshuggah and Mastodon wholesale, but they filled that little void in my heart for about 5 minutes with their heaviness. I wouldn't listen to them personally, but I wouldn't write them off as bad. They're just generic."

This review is so bad mate. How does this album relate to mastodon or cave in? (probably your largest criticism) Sure, they're progy, but mastodon play single note chromatic guitars coupled with jazz influenced drums heavy with rolls. Nothing like Gojira. Admittedly i haven't heard much of cave in, but from what i can tell they aren't similar at all. I don't even think you can criticise this album as being repetitive and too heavy, seeing as none of the actual songs sound too much like each other/ employ the same amount of heaviness in succession. If you thought this album had that bad, listen to meshuggah -- Nothing. Please tell me which songs you would actually rate lower than 2 and for what reason because this review is just a rant and bitch, as you cling on to lame excuses about why you dislike this band
