I just think everything about it, except the cool intro, is just bad. At least it's energetic

Hmmm, well agreed he changed his approach and style during the 80s to fit their new musical direction. I mean, British Steel barely has any of Halford's signature falsettos. That being said, I still think he was a huge part of their sound during the 80s. Songs like Desert Plains, The Sentinel, Blood Red Skies, A Touch of Evil, contrasting with songs like Delivering the Goods, Breaking the Law, and Heading Out to the Highway hit me on the first listens, and proved how diverse of a vocalist he was. He could approach a song and make it melodic and beautiful with powerful highs, or rhythmic and energetic. Of course his performance on the likes Dreamer Deceiver or Beyond the Realms of Death remain unmatched, but he was just as skilled and talented of a vocalist later in his career.

Yeah, he was an impressive frontman in the 80's, without a doubt, and there are some pretty cool vocal moments, but his moments on Beyond the Realms of Death, Dreamer Deceiver, Victim of Changes, etc., were godly.

Before, I respected Halford. Nowadays, I worship the dude (his peak moments at least). He's declined a lot sadly, but hey, the years wear you down. He's prob over 60 by now.

Honestly I think this might overtake SFV for me when I revisit the Priest discog again.

SFV just loses momentum after the trio of The Hellion/Electric Eye, Riding on the Wind and Bloodstone, and then again after the duo of You've Got Another Thing Comin' and the title track.

They might not be in the same vain, but I can't see how his performance on The Sentinel or Painkiller is anything less than godly. He might be yelling about cheese, but it's just as passionate and amazing to my ears.

@RotM: I get what you mean dude, just talking from personal
experience.

The guitar tones changed as well.

I've got both this and SFV at 4's. Both have flaws, so it'll come down to
which ages better.
