Sounds artificial to me lads.
I need organic.

proggy, these guys all have other jobs and whatever little money they make off the band they just reinvest into it. I have a hard time seeing it as selling out. They spent 4 albums doing variations on similar themes it was time for a change
also don’t know about this album but historically they have been very opposed to editing performances in post

ulcerate actually sound pretty organic to me. genuinely not sure if that question is coming from previous experience with this band or just an assumption

Jamie tries to lay down his tracks start to finish for a song. Not sure about the other guys. Far cry from a band like archspire recording note by note, not even track by track

"Is there anything on this that doesn’t like it’s been produced, processed, edited and moulded by a computer?'
ive seen them live, think jamie uses triggers at times but the music is real and they can absolutely play it live, yes they legit are that good and jamie legit IS that good
"proggy, these guys all have other jobs and whatever little money they make off the band they just reinvest into it. I have a hard time seeing it as selling out. They spent 4 albums doing variations on similar themes it was time for a change"
i have no quarrels with that, and totally get you cant make good money doing metal much of the time. doesnt change that the direction they took is a solid leap towards being more accessible really for the sake-of. I feel like there is even less signature jamie cymbal work on this compared to the older stuff, probably cause that approach is 2 much for pit loving casuals like sach
i definitely feel like they modified their songwriting a bit to be more in-line with normal DM or even post-metal as opposed to a natural evolution from shrines.

A proper cafe.
Egg, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, tea, toast all in 4 quid.

Couldn’t disagree more but whatever. Shrines started moving them in this direction, they even acknowledged at the time of writing that they saw Shrines as a transition to playing more melodic music. I think they enjoyed doing it in parts and decided to go for a whole album of tonal music

they already did the post-metal thing with Destroyers
big assumption from you for thinking they "took is a solid leap towards being more accessible really for the sake-of" but nothin wrong for taking it personally at some level somehow

well my wife said she's starting to 'get this' a bit, then again she likes 'Tyrant' now after like 6 years later of playing it around her. it matches the anxiety of the pandemic and raising a 4 year old lol
