Hmm probably just gotta get used to it more. I dig his singing in Your Deep Rest and Housebroken but idk it’s just kind of off putting at times.

yeah it took months for this album to resonate with me. Didn't like it at all the first time I listened. Now it's one of my favorite emo albums of all-time.

I'd have to consider that, but you might be right in my opinion. There's something about the brutal honesty this possesses. The only counters I can think of I need to revisit to be sure.

Dendron is one of the few songs in this world that makes me tear up at least 50% of the time I listen to it

This is a tough one to get through, yeah. I feel like it's just got this way of weaseling into your every personal thought, action, etc. Incredibly relatable. At this point, it's so tied to my life that I can't see it ever being below a classic for me, even if its appeal wears off as I grow older--I just can't deny all it has ended up meaning to me.

Well hey, by the end of the day it's just how I feel, everyone will experience a given album differently. I know I joke around like everyone else does and talk down sometimes, but it's all in fun. It's subjective after all, sometimes something doesn't click and that's all there is to it.

I’ll have to agree this is the best album of its kind this decade. Still gets me every time

If we're talking 2010 and post-2010, these were the only contenders that came to mind.

Barely Civil - We Can Live Here Forever (very personal for me so I'm biased)

Gates - Bloom & Breathe

Grandview - Everything Between Paint and a Wall

Invalids - Strengths

Pianos Become the Teeth - The Lack Long After

The Brave Little Abacus - Just Got Back from the Discomfort...

Trophy Eyes - Chemical Miracle

Took me a while to think of those lol, so I'd say this is pretty high up there. A lot of the stuff I remembered was 2009 or other early 2000s stuff. Anyone who hasn't heard any of those should try em though.

I can't really listen to this LP anymore. I basically took all of the really bad shit happening in my life at the time I was into this and wrapped all of it around this album so listening to it just takes me back there, I still love this album though

Also, for me, Thursday's No Devolucion is the best emo album from this decade. Such a brilliant album, though Thursday as a whole is really a 00's band

only competitor for me is Glocca Morra - Just Married but that one is just more fun...this is extremely refined in theme and sound

I think blow-for-blow, Abacus has a pretty legitimate argument for best of the decade. I think this beats it, but the argument is close.

I'm sure I know which side Treb is on lol

Yep, with you guys on this being the best emo record of the decade so far. I cannot hear it without feeling just a little broken inside.

Yeah, you know what crushes me about this album. The sense of empathy this band displays. It's about feeling your pain and feeling others, and it comes from a place of goodwill and purity and it just can rip you in two.

Which is why Goodness is such a perfect sequel to the best emo record of the decade. It's about picking up all the pieces and starting to put them together. And shit, this band - they came out of nowhere and they're stellar and I'm really in no rush for them to do anything new because of how profound these last two albums have been.

I can't really listen to this LP anymore. [2] still love/appreciate it though

I initially hesitated to call this the best emo of the decade but the more I think about it, the more it seems right.

Yeah man exactly, I was saying that from the beginning. I don't think a follow-up that sounded precisely/in the same vein as this would have hit the same way.
