haven't jammed this since high school and it's still dope but I unquestionably don't like it as much as I used to rip
mostly because every song has like the same chorus

yeah I don't really think its a bad thing I don't connect with its lyrical content anymore lol
genuinely surprised how poorly the vocal writing has held up for me though. its as if the whole record is built exclusively off the first 3 pitches in the scale and it's sadly kinda boring to me now as a result. adultery still whips ass tho

The vocalist(s) definitely sit on like the same three notes the whole record

so, the 10-year anniversary vinyl includes a rendition of Abner Jay's "I'm So Depressed" and its amazing. fits the vibe of the album perfectly, and is right in Bob's wheelhouse. is it as good as Abner's classic? probably not, but i'm glad they included it on the record.

"Maybe I'd be happier if I didn't think this way."
This is one of those albums that at times incredibly resonates with me while simultaneously containing everything I hate about modern pop punk musically and lyrically. Guess it just misses that balance on the pop stuff like Clarity hits for me. Adultery and Beer Can go hard though.

I can’t express how amazing this album is and how the album after this is literally not in the same solar system as this quality wise. It makes no sense to me

bobby's solo album little wounds is nearly on the same level as this is
they just got very lazy and reworked a bunch of those for king of no man, and they did not translate very well

I should probably jam this.

i don't know how you've never heard this, it owned sput for a number of years
you may not love the vocal delivery, but the songwriting is impeccable here

You know back in the day I was strictly metal so I probably never paid attention lol.

there was a divorce punk era that started with the the wonder years "greatest generation" and ended with spanish love songs "schmaltz"
|

Yeah I missed all of that lol.

@scoot can you explain “divorce punk”? I’m intrigued. I absolutely love this, greatest generation and schmaltz.

This is the best of those 3 but Schmaltz honestly ain't far behind, and is probably more consistent overall tbh
