I never understood that argument. Sure, it's comparing "apples and oranges", but BigPleb said BEST BAND OF ALL TIME, and I'm simply pointing out that there are numerous candidates better fitted for that role(even if saying AIC is best ever is a huge stretch as well)

Na I like Metallica and AIC but seriously, AIC is better, Pixies are better, Talking Heads are better, a lot of bands are better and I could give less of a shit if "they wouldn't exist without Metallica" - that's really quite irrelevant since we're talking about our subjective favorite bands of all times.

as someone who has listened to metallica and alice in chains obsessively for a very very long time, i cannot stress more how different alice in chains (and an inordinate number of other bands) would be without metallica
you can go back and talk about black sabbath or whoever else all you want but they werent part of the discussion
