"'vocals are bland'"

I mean you literally cut what I actually said to make it worst.

I obviously think that she's a talented vocalist if I think the vocals are beautiful. But wow, they are incredibly one-note and pretty much never fluctuate in any interesting way. Which is not something I can say about Mysterons, she definitely ups the ante during the chorus for that. I don't get why other songs can't be like that. I get this is an album of subtlety but sounding like a dead fish is not that interesting.

I'll believe Johnny when he says it's a grower because I expected that and also the Mezzanine songs he listed did in fact grow on me

I retract my 'worst take' statement your honour and would like to replace it with this.

To be fair when it dropped loads of my non metal mates used to love it and I digged it but rarely listened on my own. You'd get like Faith no more doing a cover and such makiing more accessible to the alternative/heavy audiences etc but it was ages later it grew on me too.

This is pretty dope

it's always lame when artists want their music to be consumed in a specific context

They don't though they just begrudged 'coffee table ' music. Think it was barrow who said he hates that shit. Understandably so. Imagine wanted people to spend time actually listening to your music. The nerve.

No they're not. Geoff once mentioned in a interview he begrudged the coffee table/background music tag in question. That was it. He thinks ,as any artists I imagine, his music is worth more than having half an ear on it.

people can do what they want with music, but the vast majority of music is designed to fill a certain role/context. Such as the banjo & Kazooie OST
