Ehhhhh it's understandable, his stuff is really cheesy, but this also brings the m/ hard.

Same, I was so blown away.
Only albums that had that same effect were Painkiller, Hatebreeder and Nightfall Over Middle Earth. All to lesser degrees than this, I Jari fanboyed hard in middleschool/highschool

I've been diggin on this since 2006. Still kicks ass. The band I just joined covers Beyond the Dark Sun and I've been having a kickass time playing that. I wish we could do Battle Against Time or Winter Madness but my speed is just not what Kai's is.

I've been jamming this lately. I don't like the clean vocals, but the songs are catchy.

this is a timeless classic for me! favorite tracks are starchild (epicness) and beautiful death (heaviness). the only song that is a bit weaker is sadness and hate. somehow they hit a nerve on me with the mix of black metal and power metal (which normally I don't like) and the extremely nice drums. no other band mixes epicness and heaviness in the same awesome way I think.

I notice a sinister equation between skill and cheese as a way to handle this awesomeness.

We secretly love less "skilled" cheesy metal as well

Summoning is another cheese skilled band

I have to admit though, some of these lyrics, whew.

I never considered Summoning to display a lot of skill. I only heard Stronghold, emphasis seems to be atmosphere.
