appreciate the kind words and i'm glad we agree it turned out to be more Euro Converge and more sophisticated than regular converge. also i haven't heard Converge in years and just guessed XD
edit: but in all seriousness though i didn't try to shit on them with the song and really did try to recreate what they sound like to me. it is a bit weird to try and do something like this with something i don't care for. was fun!

There's not even a fast section in the recording, though. lol It makes me wonder what exactly you even hear happening in a Converge song when you play it back. It is interesting though, how two people can have such wildly different interpretations of the same product.

Nope. Concubine is their best song. Also, used to hate this band, now it’s hard for me to listen to any other metalcore acts besides these guys

Anybody here actually love this at first listen (assuming you didnt know and enjoy the band beforehand)? Be honest.

My gf did. I played her the album as a joke but she loved it. Couldn’t believe it

I'd argue 70% of high ratings for this are those that kept listening because they were told this is good, hell me included. It took me like 12 listens to appreciate this. I would have never bothered, if the hype for this album wasn't so well established. Pretty sure I'm far from the only one.
Props wolfe, if you're not lying.

The first time I listened to nearly every converge album was at the gym... wasn't exactly love at first listen but I liked them enough to keep returning to them.
The thing that took getting used to for me was the song lengths more so than Bannon's vocals. Like as someone who grew up on Metallica, Rush, and tons of prog metal I couldn't wrap my mind around Concubine and Bitter and Then Some being only like 1:15 in length and being constantly referred to as two of the standouts on this album.

I still remember the scorching hot babe in the Concubine video.

Not only did I love this at first listen, it was one of the best first listens I've ever had. Still the GOAT metalcore record for my money.

I thought it was horrendous and turned it off partway through the first song lol

I liked it at first, loved it at second, and truly appreciated its legend when I saw a pickup truck with a Jane Doe album art print decal covering their entire back window at a red light on 14th & Kensington.

Bonus points to the first person who does that to his or her Cybertruck.

That'd be a gross disservice to Jane Doe
