Concubine is still the best song ever and that's all that really matters tbh

I would rather rank Buckethead's discog over ranking the songs on this beast. Phoenix In Flight/Flames would be de facto last but they set the mood so fucking well for Thaw and the t/t

Phoenix in Flight is still fucking perfect but yeah flames is just kind of a nothing of track. It’s fine as a little lead in to Thaw but I’ve never listened to that track by itself.

I fucking love the Flight/Flames duo man... was my favorite song on the album for quite a while

Think Flight is there to serve as a breather before diving back into things with Flames, which is up there with Concubine as having one of the most blistering first moments here. Idk when I think of this album I just hear the t/t. One of their best slow burners, just creeps and crushes you until finally loosening its grip in those final cathartic minutes, the light at the end of this bleak ass tunnel. Fuck I love this album

I love Pheonix in Flames on it's own. It's just a hot blast of noisecore with killer distorted vocals and distorted drums. I listen to harsh noise/power electronics anyways so it really just works for me.
So, am I the only one that thinks that Homewrecker goes on for too long??

Honestly yeah, wouldnt mind if the whole outro sequence started at the 2 min mark

Yeah like that chorus power chord riff is catchy or whatever but not great enough to justify how many times they repeat it.
Oh, and as amazing as the whole song is, I think the t/t's ending wreaks of missed potential. Like it was just building and building and it could've used a nice climax. I'm very against fade outs too though. Like, just end your song.

What happened to the album spotlight thing Sowing did? - I found it listed under my previous discussions, but when you click through it’s just blank.

I think he deleted it, since it wasn't supposed to come out

What do you mean by ‘come out’? He didn’t want to submit it here and accidentally pressed the big red button?

Apparently that's what happened yeah!

Easily my favorite album by them. I wonder why Bannon doesn’t use this style of screaming on any of their following albums? I’m sure he can do it.

I actually don't think he can

Yeah, his voice just gets lower over time. As heavy and amazing as his scream always has been, I don’t think his technique is great and he probably has damaged his throat a lot.

Damn. Well Bannon was in his prime here for sure. His screams on here are absolutely devastating. I forgot how good this album is.

He has mentioned that he believes the change in his voice between Jane Doe and You Fail Me was due to scar tissue etc. He has also stated in interviews that there is a lot scar tissue and damage at this point, that his throat can bleed after shows etc. So yeah, his technique is probably not healthy.

kinda blessing and curse thing. He probably wouldn't be able to replicate this sound with proper technique, it just wouldn't be able to express the same emotion of pain and anguish with a "healthy" technique.
