Imagine sitting with Eros almost done and the deciding to write and released Gore instead. PM has a lot of fans but to me this album is how I want my Deftones. Maybe their most progressive album overall I would argue.

Crazy that it leaked. I can understand why the band wanted to keep it shelved because of how close it is to a difficult era of the band and to Chi's accident, but it's easily as good as the rest of their albums, Chi especially is on fire throughout, and the progressive / experimental aspects actually execute really well and make these songs a lot more interesting. At this point it's already out there, they should do a final mix/master, give it an official release and dedicate it and all the profits to Chi's family. Everyone wins.

It's a mix of SNW and the Self Titled. It's also the best Deftones album imo, fucking massive shame that they didn't put it out. It's out there if you want to find it. Opening track is a time machine.

I was able to track it down and yeah, this is 100% real. Real shame this album never got to see the light of day. It's incredible.



While obviously rough around the edges and clearly unfinished, this is easily some of their strongest material. Feels... somewhat dirty listening but Smile is an S-tier tones track.
