Surely they’re gonna get a second guitarist again? Because I’m sorry having a backing track is fucking lame

Fuck it I’ll do it. Hundred dollars a gig and free places to crash with food. I’m low maintenance

Older (40ish) mate of mine who is an audio engineer messaged me asking who Loathe were and whether bass-only bands were back in fashion after hearing their new track.
Lmao’d, but yeah something up with that mix!

new song is good. Needs some spins though. Kind of reminded me of Black Peaks, in the way of the quiet atmospheric almost post rockish bits

New song gets bonus points for sampling an episode of Atlanta right before the solo

great use of that too. I’m gonna have to look up the lyrics for that track because that’s legit one of my favorite scenes in Atlanta

Always a good sign when a song doesn't feel six minutes long despite being in fact, six minutes

Not that I was floored exactly since my anticipation sort of waned over five years but being happy with the single is all I can ask for, and I think a new album like this will be sufficient for the wait, just having new Loathe again is cool. (I don't count that dumbass ambient album that wasted sick album art that reminds me of Super Mario Sunshine's secret levels.)

Honestly that single was exactly what I wanted and I didn’t even know it. Since this dropped I’ve gotten even colder on it but still think there’s some fun moments and a few good tracks, I fully expected them to dumb down their sound and/or lean heavier into the Deftones influence but they did neither and wound up with something great.
I just cannot stress enough how much that single surprised me

It breezes by, and it has so many facets at the same time. Hope the album generally leans into that direction but that they also don't forget about the heavy hitters like Gored, and that Loatheheaven-ish song that i can't remember the name of

Really not a fan of this production style tbh but I think Loathe is one of the few bands it actually works for. So yeah, odd complaint lol

That’s really my point tbh, personally I think it’s great but it is so much better than this record that it’s not even funny

HOLY SHIT I FINALLY GOT TO SEE LOATHE
Why were they so much better than I expected live? Their sound was even better than Spiritbox's after them.

I can't stop listening to Gifted. Stone cold banger, really hope the rest of the album delivers
Nice Nomos! Yeah these guys always deliver live, they tore the house down when I saw them for the first time with Static Dress. Really special night
