I have such mixed feelings on Green Day these days
Me: Every song is just a rearrangement of the same power chords. American Idiot put them on a pedestal they cannot live up to. They actually might not have ever been a good band but were just in the right place at the right time.

One of my fondest memories of this band is singing the entirety of Jesus of Suburbia in this tiny karaoke bar in Japan along with this Japanese guy I'd just met and a bunch of strangers joining in for it. One of the few super-long songs one could get away with doing as karaoke and people actually have a good time
