the others are good (wouldn't know about anything post-all hope is gone) but I kinda agree with brick otherwise. the others don't really touch the first two. I definitely will always prefer the debut but this is without a doubt their best work tbh. everyone should also check mate.feed.kill.repeat if there are any slipknot fans here that haven't checked the pre-corey Taylor stuff. I think it's the only other release that matches the intensity and avant-garde of self titled, Iowa, and the early demos and singles.

They were killers until they got rich and then they grew tamer and tamer.

I think they ran out of raw emotion and built-up anger from their childhoods.

Vol. 3 still has some bangers that harken back to the first 2 albums (Virus of Life, Pulse of the Maggots, Duality...) but right around All Hope is Gone was when I started to move on from the band.

I'm always gonna have a soft spot for All Hope Is Gone as it was my first Slipknot album, but Iowa is definitely my favorite these days

“I think they ran out of raw emotion and built-up anger from their childhoods.”
to be fair, I’m sure they exorcised all of that with how they were performing during the days
