The Second Annual Report is ok, but it's overhyped, too much fucks are given for being the first industrial record, it's influential for sure, but nothing special to be found there. Last track is great tho.

" I dig the music so much more than this I can look past it"

well that explains it ;). This is really angsty i agree, the lyrics on piggy are awful. I like the music tho, also this really grew on me, it was a 3 for me not long time ago.

"the lyrics on piggy are awful"

Eh... Piggy's lyrics aren't terrible, they're just not the best thing ever, plus the music to it is like perfect and it makes it one of the best songs on here, the repetitiveness of "nothing can stop me now" is catchy in a good way in my opinion and leaves room for the drums to go wild like they do.

I actually dig the angst on Tool's shit in general too. like I feel like it's directed appropriately, whereas w/ this the lyrics in spots are eyeroll bad

I guess haha. it's not all bad, there are some songs that are very well done in all aspects, for example my fav song on this is prob the becoming, that's angsty too but I think it's done better and less whiny

reptile's another superb track imo

I never thought Trent came off as whiny, maybe gimmicky sometimes though... still love the album though.
