Edvard Munch - The Scream

“for several years I was almost mad…You know my picture, ‘’The Scream?’’ I was stretched to the limit—nature was screaming in my blood… After that I gave up hope ever of being able to love again.”

It's quite simple. If I had to pick my ten favorite Metallica tracks, none of them would be from this album. Sure it has good moments, but the songs are so long that once the nostalgia fades you're left with sitting through it just brooding. Sanitarium is like an inferior version of Fade to Black, Dyer's Eve is better than the faster tracks on this album, Master of Puppets is better live and the studio version is unsatisfying by comparison, TTSNB is slow and long and repetitive. That being said, this stomps all over the 'Remastered' covers version of this so I guess Metallica had something good going on. Just not as good as the other albums pre-Load. The main downside to the whole thing is James' lackluster vocal melodies which none of the other albums suffered from as much as this.

Pros:

- Drumming on MOP and Justice are Lars' best, MOP might take the lead there.

- Battery has an epic intro, Disposable Heroes is cool if a bit long same goes for Orion and Cliff's bass solo is perfect.

And that's all I have to say about that.

I love this album. It's a classic to me. Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ..And Justice For All is what got me into metal ~25 years ago.

However, in a track by track battle, Ride the Lightning comes out on top to me.

I dont know man...........Metallica was just so great before Load came out. I remember hearing rumors about Metallicas new album coming out(LOAD) when I was younger because I didnt have internet. And I was so hyped for it I couldnt wait. Then when I finally got it, even at 11 years old, I said what the fuck is this shit?
