"It's not though? Plenty of people don't like Emperor, just like you said earlier. Just because they're super popular and influential doesn't mean everyone has to automatically like them."
yea i mean 100 edgelords on the internet (especially places like ma who will argue no classic bm is actually good and half of it is norsecore, lmfao) vs hundreds of thousands, maybe over a million... totally the same thing

"Parks, Snox, and Shadowmire, what're your guys' fav song on the album?"
freezing moon or pagan fears i think

The numbers are completely irrelevant. People have the right to their own opinions.

I agree these vocals really aren't representative of bm (which is a bit of a paradox if this is the quintessential bm album), I wish he just stuck with his vocal approach he used in Tormentor but after years I can atleast appreciate the uniqueness of his style here, especially the homer simpson bellows in the t/t which used to crack me up but now I can see how they contribute to the atmosphere

In the Nightside Eclipse is definitely the best.

"Hell, Sarcofago even wrote a song dedicated to hating Emperor lol"
yeah only instead of spending tens of thousands of posts on internet sites as to why half the classics suck and are overrated, they made a lot of good music

My favorite has always been Buried by time and dust - THE quintessential bm track from THE quintessential bm album from THE quintessential bm band

I've never listened to Tormentor, but the vocals here definitely rule. They're just, yes, not quintessentially black metal.
All this said, I'd probably like Nightside Eclipse if it didn't have the really cheesy synths. I mean I can dig synths when they work well, but I think they just sound soooooo bad in Emperor's music, it really makes some of the cooler riffs sound flaccid alongside them. A shame, because their demos rule
Interesting. I find Nightside Eclipse is one of the few albums where the synths really aren't cheesy at all.

"I mean I can dig synths when they work well, but I think they just sound soooooo bad in Emperor's music"
they're better than almost every other black metal band that uses synths tho
if you're consistent in your logic and hate those bands too, then i have no problem with this opinion

i agree with this though, but more for the atmosphere than anything

"So people can only have opinions on stuff you like if they have made music that you like?"
but you're not those people. stop generalizing what you seem to believe that i think
i have seen very few people go to the same lengths to disagree so constantly, for so long and so frequently
yea sarcofago made one song about how they hate emperor, cool, it's not like they made 50 different messages (in music or otherwise) about how 50 different seminal bands suck,

I think Dimmu Borgir use synths pretty well on earlier stuff like EDT, I can just tell i'm opening a can of fucking worms by mentioning those turkeys though

"It's not like I'm plaguing the threads of every album I dislike constantly talking shit about them."
for someone who has been around as long as you have, you still do it far more than you should. there may be users who do it more and they have their own slew of problems from what i've noticed, but that's still no excuse. and if you're not mature enough to understand that, i can't help you right now
"I mean the only time it ever turns into a big thing is when people like you keep pressing me with your asinine comments"
have you ever considered that maybe the problem is on your side? i thought not
"I get nothing from discussing music I dislike."
see this is a constructive thought, if only you acted on it and exercised a little self-restraint, things would be much better
