Okay, so apparently, unfortunately, the accusations turned out to be true. Obviously these actions are disgusting and the backlash is understandable, however, I think Jesse's apology was very good and sincere and I'm glad he didn't deny it or make excuses like recently accused acts (Ethan Klath, PWR BTM or whatever they were called). I'd like to think he's grown passed this.

And even though the accusations have been proven true I don't think he should be punished or "isolated from the rest of society" (what the fuck's wrong with you?) for something he did 10+ years ago. I'm also disgusted by how selfish a lot of Brand New fans are being, instead of feeling sympathy for the victim it's all "Oh I feel like I've been betrayed". Jesse Lacey doesn't and didn't ever owe you shit, he made music you enjoyed and for you to expect anything else from someone you never even met is your own problem. I'm still gonna continue to listen to Brand New, I liked Brand New because if their music, I never liked them because of Jesse's morality.

Apparently sending and receiving nude photos with a teenage girl (possibly multiple), I think this was all happening around the YFW/Deja era if I'm correct but it's only come to light now

i think it was just after TDAGARIM got released bc the accuser said that she was 15 when it happened and she's 25 now

"Giant fucking monster" is a bit much, he seems to be sincerely sorry for what he's done and it was that long ago. And besides you should probably just use this to realise that the people behind the music you like are most likely assholes 90% of the and you shouldn't expect anything from them other than good music.

I'm not making excuses for the artist when I say that, I'm saying to stop listening to the music you enjoy because something bad comes out about the artist is stupid because you shouldn't expect anything from them, yeah none of those bands have had allegations, doesn't mean they couldn't have done equally as shitty things, realistically at least a few of them have

You like musicians for their MUSIC, the music industry is a pretty shitty and corrupt industry, the majority of these fuckers are most likely shitty people, any of the people you support could potentially be worse than Jesse, you have no idea, so why even bother? You can not listen to whatever you want, I can actually understand not listening to something because it might make you feel uncomfortable, but to act like a piece of art isn't as good as it is because of the person behind it is dumb.

sorry, but, in order for the culture to improve, people need to be held accountable. you can't have your cake and eat it too: for young fans to be safe AND for musicians to get of scot-free with complete empathy for their actions. nothing was stopping Jesse from owning up to this before getting called out.

as far as the good person =/= good music debate: are we really bothering with that angle rn? everyone ITT understands that, but idk man maybe they're personally invested in the scene and don't like shitty people getting absolved of guilt on account of their musical prestige.
