Isaac is a garbage singer and lyricist, worst vocals of all time

There's a pretty compelling 37-40 minute album in there, but the same thing can be said of this. I can forgive a little cringe, as this band is a bit too earnest to a fault. What I can't forgive are that some of these songs are straight up diet Joanna Newsom.

Diet JN is what came to mind a lot of the time yup
|

'Diet' is generous. 'Bargain bin' is probably more apt.

Besties isn't that bad but the problem is that these guys aren't super great at making cutsie folk psych pop either. For the Cold Country sounds like an actual song tho.

That is far and away the best song on the record. Shiniest turd in the bowl.

I feel like there's a really good chance of the new one being better than this

yea they still haven't fully gotten there but i think this is the closest they have gotten to something I quite like

i get why tundra did that tho, the vocals are considerably more accessible and less annoying on the new one

Doesn't fix the songwriting tho. If anything, it got a decent bit worse.

Eh, I'm just glad something from this band works for me even if I'm probably going to be forever a little confused by the intense love

if I used the most advanced AI to create an album Pika was guaranteed to hate I'd expect the latest BCNR to be the result

I don't think AI would need to be advanced to dribble out something as offensively bland as the new bcnr

curiosity killed this cat earlier than planned. I needed a palate cleanser this morning and the new one certainly delivered in a sense
“diet” JN is incredibly generous (2) lol
amusingly I find the vocals waaaaaaay more irritating this time around. They’re devoid of any individuality or “personality” for the most part. I don’t think the basis of a good album is there regardless, so I doubt it’d matter. I think we all (should) know where the inspiration came from previously. Without Issac this band isn’t it
