Yeah, I feel the same way about motorcycles. One wrong move and you're basically fucked. Doesn't even have to be your fault... which in this case I think is exactly what happened.
With Brent's recent decline in mental health I thought this may have been... deliberate but the more I read into it it seems like this was a freak accident on the driver's part. Makes it even more tragic tbh. He never got to make amends with his brothers/band mates of 25 years.
Just so damn sad all around.

To Mastodon´s credit they never disparaged their former bandmate. All of their public statements have been respectful towards Brent´s legacy despite the fact he was constantly blasting them on social media. It´s so sad they never have the chance to amend things with him now.

Motorcycle riders can be just as careless, as an adamantly exclusive car driver, whenever I see one, I instinctively open the road for him/her to pass, in order to distance myself asap.

Fuck RIP. Mastodon are one of my favorite bands. I’m glad his death wasn’t the result of some self destructive cycle from being kicked out of the band…glad is a strange way to put it. But when I heard he had died, that was my instant worry (knowing hinds definitely a wild motherfucker with self destructive tendencies).
But fuck, either way he’s gone and it fucking sucks. Strange we get such a huge loss with his death and a huge contribution to the metal/hard rock world with new Deftones album. That dichotomy is a little strange, especially knowing deftones and mastodon were really close, toured together etc
I’m rambling, but those are my thoughts. RIP.

TBH this is super unsurprising. The vast majority of motorcycle related accidents I see involve the rider doing SOMETHING dumb. It's not like people gravitate towards motorcycles because they like driving defensively under the speed limit.
