the lyrics are mostly great, although only a handful of them are easily decipherable and actually when you look at the lyric sheets and compare them to the music, in many occasions they don't even match
this may seem sorta pretentious but when you read the lyrics while listening to the music (especially on jane doe), the lyrics despite sometimes not matching with what bannon is screaming gives the intense vocals some extra depth

There is a good song trapped inside of Thousands of Miles Between Us (and the title track) but they both do this obnoxious fucking thing where they have a long ass buildup to a chorus and then completely drop off and start the buildup back again and it's infuriating. Both songs also have a distinct lack of riffs and instead have these super generic ideas driving the songs.

I think there are certain vocal melodies or 10 second ideas that I really like. "Therrreee iss nooo plaaace inn this wooorld to hiiiide" or the riff at 2:20 sounds promising before it goes nowhere. Saying there's a good song trapped inside was definitely the wrong choice of words because it's absolutely one of the shittiest songs Converge has ever written.
